Le Père Bis

2. November 2015 by swizzzlestick

The Le Père Bis is my first hot drink with spirits this year. And I guess it won´t be the last!

In 2006 Jim Meehan was asked to create a hot drink with St. Germain. To prove that the liqueur could tame one of the most powerful spirits, Jim mixed it with one of Islay´s legendary peart monsters, an Ardbeg 10-Year-Old Single Malt Scotch Whisky  (source: PDT Cocktail book).

I do not have an Ardbeg at hand but I hope that an Islay´s Laphroaig 10-Year-Old Single Malt Scotch Whisky is a proper substitute. Let´s give it a try!

4 oz. Freshly Brewed Chamomile Tea, 1.5 oz. Single Malt Scotch Whisky, 0.5 oz. St. Germain Elderflower Liqueur, 0.5 oz. Honey Syrup, garnish: Lemon Wedge studded with three Cloves

Add ingredients to a pre-heated heatproof mug and stir. Garnish with the lemon wedge.

A wonderful hot drink for lovers of whisky, elderflower and honey. One more please!

  1. I must admit, I can’t quite get my brain wrapped around the concept of Laphroaig and St Germain. Guess I’ll just have to try it!
