The Canton is a fantastic rum drink found in The Essential Bartender´s Guide by Robert Hess. There is no further information about its origin, but I found the information that it is from Jones Complete Barguide by Stan Jones (1977). Who knows more about it?

2 ounces Jamaican Rum, 1/2 ounce Maraschino Liqueur, 1/2 ounce Orange Curaçao, 1 dash Grenadine, 1 dash Creole Bitters (optional, my choice), garnish: Orange Twist and Cherry

Stir ingredients with ice and strain into a cocktail glass. Garnish with the orange twist and the cherry.

A great and elegant cocktail for rum and Maraschino lovers!

It looks beauitful mate, is orange Curaçao any different from Triple Sec or Cointreau?

  2. Thanks! Triple Sec and Cointreau are also Curaçaos, even of higher quality. You can use them as well.
