“This is not the drink with which you begin your evening. As a way of wrapping up a night that grew late without warning, however, the Clint Eastwood works just dandy. Hard-punching in both firepower and flavor, this bold and simple combo is the creation – nay, the responsibility – of Chicago bartender Mike Ryan … With the muscle of green Chartreuse and a surly stab of Angostura bitters built atop a base of rye whiskey – 100 proof or better, please (this is not a place to hold back) – the Clint Eastwood is a nightcap with considerably more soporific power than a glass of warm milk“, Paul Clarke writes in his book The Cocktail Chronicles.
1-1/2 oz. Rye Whiskey, 1/8 oz. Green Chartreuse, 1/8 oz. Angostura Bitters, 1/4 oz. Rich Syrup, garnish: Orange Twist
Stir ingredients with ice and strain into a chilled glass (I filled the glass with some fresh ice). Garnish with the orange twist.
Nothing to add to Paul Clarke´s remarks, except that this is one of the finest whiskey drinks I have ever had.
