Have A Heart Cocktail

This drink was originally published in Patrick Gavin Duffy´s Official Mixer´s Manual, 1934. It has a weepy drink name from a forgettable movie – also from 1934 – but it´s a darned good cocktail …“, Ted Haigh writes in Vintage Spirits & Forgotten Cocktails.

1-1/2 ounces Gin, 3/4 ounce Swedish Punsch, 3/4 ounce Lime Juice, 1/4 ounce Grenadine, 2 dashes Celery Bitters (optional, my choice), garnish: Lime Wedge

Shake ingredients with ice and strain into a cocktail glass. Garnish with the lime wegde.

I note that my cocktail comes out quite red compared to Ted´s pictured drink (I measured the quantity of grenadine forensically). Anyhow, the color doesn´t matter so much; it is a great drink, and I love it with a couple of good dashes of Celery Bitters.
