The right drink for me tonight is a bitter-sweet Negroni!
Sweet, because my beloved Eva and myself had such a beautiful weekend together with so many lovely and sweet moments and memories.
Bitter, because now we are separated again for a few days until the next weekend unites us again!
But can we appreciate the sweetness without the existence of the bitterness, and what is the bitterness without the counter-balancing power of the sweetness?
Do you see, the Negroni can teach us lessons of life!
Eva, when enjoying thkis drink I am thinking of you and missing you again!
” … The simple recipe of equal parts gin, sweet vermouth, and Campari is a great launchpad for endless modifications“, source: Death & Co´s Modern Classic Cocktails.
The Baltasar and Blimunda by Phil Ward, 2008, is one of those great modifications.
2 ounces Gin, 1/2 ounce Punt E Mes, 1/2 ounce Campari, 1/2 ounce Tawny Port, garnish: 1 Flamed Orange Peel
Stir ingredients with ice and strain into a cocktail glass. Flame the orange peel over the drink, then drop it in.
