James Bond was sharing a carafe of his unnamed cocktail, chilled in a bowl of ice, with a female agent. It turned out her name was Vesper.

Note 

Cocchi Americano is acknowledged to be the most similar product in existence to the old-formula Kina Lillet. And here is my Vesper for tonight.

  1. I’m curious how you liked it. Bond was noted for liking huge, strong and ice cold drinks. In the several times I’ve remade this I’ve never really enjoyed the result at peak realism.

      The Vesper is definitvely a strong drink, and I only have prepared a few ones.
      For me it is very drinkable but only when it is ice cold. I like the bitter notes of the Cocchi more than those of the Lillet, and the vodka seems to cut back on the herbal note of the gin. The lemon twist is absolutely essential. I like to add a few drops of Lemon Bitters as well.
      Real enjoyment? You are right, mostly I prefer other drinks.
