The Blackthorn No. 4 is such an impressing drink with so many deep flavors. It is from Jared Brown, an outstanding cocktail historian, and cofounder of the Museum of the American Cocktail. Being the master distiller of Sipsmith, he uses Sipsmith sloe gin and Sipsmith London dry gin in his recipe (found in Tom Sandham´s book World´s Best Cocktails), which I had to substitute.
2cl Sloe Gin, 2cl London Dry Gin, 2cl Irish Whiskey, 2cl Sweet Vermouth (Martini Rosso), 3/2cl Sherry, garnish: orange twist
Stir the ingredients with ice and strain into a cocktail glass. Garnish with an orange zest.
