Rye Witch

I am just enjoying a sweet and herbal Rye Witch created by Jim Meehan of PDT (Please Don’t Tell).  The “witch” part of the name comes from the Italian herbal saffron liqueur Strega which is the Italian word for “witch”.

2 oz Rittenhouse Rye, ¼ oz Strega, ¼ oz Lustau Palo Cortado Sherry (I took Tio Pepe Fino), 1 sugar cube, 2 dashes Orange bitters, garnish: orange peel

Muddle the sugar cube with the Bitters in a mixing glass. Add the remaining ingredients and stir with ice. Strain into a rocks glass. Twist an orange peel over the glass.
