Morris Cocktail

10. September 2014 by swizzzlestick

The Morris Cocktail is a whiskey cocktail created by Jamie Boudreau (for Vessel in Seattle), according to Robert Hess´ The Essential Bartender´s Guide.

Although my wife Eva does (not yet) like whiskey drinks (however, this wonderful woman is so curious and open to new tastes of booze, who wonders, having THIS husband!), I will invite her to have this fantastic drink with me!

1 and 1/2 oz. Bourbon Whiskey, 1 oz. Lillet Blanc, 1/2 oz. Amaro Nonino, 1 dash Orange Bitters, 1 dash Simple Syrup, garnish: 1 orange twist

Stir ingredients with ice and strain into a cocktail glass. Garnis with the orange twist.

  1. Have you made her the Blood and Sand yet? Scotch, but still whiskey…and one of the very best cocktails of them all, whiskey or not.

    • Yes, I also enjoyed the Blood and Sand a lot, really a good drink!

Now I got hold of a bottle of Cocchi Americano and will sub the Lillet with it in the next Morris. Let´s see how it comes out.

  2. […] We set up in the beautiful backyard, on a platform that looks as if it was created to be a stage. The yard fills with old friends and fans (and kudos to my friend Jenn, who has seen and supported me playing music since my freshman year of college.) The show is…great. The acoustics of the backyard are perfect, and as the sun slowly sets, the ‘lights’ change. We play really well: Mark’s banter is even wittier than usual, Rose sings even more flawlessly than her usual flawless self, and I have that feeling that comes when things are just…working…for me. When the amp and the instruments and I are on the same page, thinking slightly ahead of the beat, aware. We finish just at dusk. I wander off with some old friends, while Mark and Rose are plied with various fancy cocktails from our generous hosts. (See: The Morris) […]
