The Metropole Cocktail was the house cocktail at the Metropole Hotel, New York, at the beginning of the 20th century. The original drink can be found in Modern American Drinks (1895), but this version is a slightly different recipe as suggested by Robert Hess.

1 and 1/2 oz. Cognac, 3/4 oz. Dry Vermouth, 1 dash Orange Bitters, 2 dashes Creole Bitters, 1/8 oz. Simple Syrup

Stir ingredients with ice and strain into a cocktail glass.
