This very old drink encountered in Stanley Clisby Arthur´s book “Famous New Orleans Drinks and how to mix ‘Em” from 1937 “deserves to once more see the light of day“, as Robert Hess says it so well!

de la louisianeIngredients

3/4 oz rye whiskey, 3/4 oz sweet vermouth, 3/4 oz Benedictine, 1 dash Peychaud’s Bitters, 1 dash Absinthe, garnish: Brandied Cherry

Stir ingredients with ice and strain into a cocktail glass. Garnish with a brandied cherry.
