The Blinker

14. May 2014 by swizzzlestick

The first Blinker appeared in Patrick Gavin Duffy´s The Official Mixer´s Manual (1934), according to Ted Haigh, aka Dr. Cocktail. The original recipe was with grenadine but I learned from Dr. Cocktail that raspberry syrup was a common substitute for grenadine, in prohibition times. And, in deed, having tried the Blinker with raspberry syrup you never look back again.

2 oz. Rye Whiskey, 1 oz. Grapefruit Juice, 2 BS Raspberry Syrup, garnish: Lemon Twist

Shake ingredients with ice and strain into a cocktail glass. Garnish with a lemon twist.
