There has always been a certain simpatico correspondence between cocktails and horse racing, explains Ted Haigh (aka Dr. Cocktail) in his book Vintage Spirits and Forgotten Cocktails. Drinks were named to commemorate races or horses, like The Derby which  had several variations. And here is one of them.

Ingredients

1 oz. Bourbon Whiskey, 1/2 oz. Sweet Vermouth, 1/2 oz. Orange Curacao, 3/4 oz. Lime Juice, garnish: 1 mint leaf

Preparation

Shake ingredients with ice and strain into a cocktail glass. Garnish with a mint leaf.
