The Bitter Handshake

After several weeks today I had time again to do one of my favorite things, outdoor cooking in my Dutch oven. I made a wonderful delicious pakistani chicken curry.

A good meal deserves a good digestif, doesn´t it? Indeed, I believe it is the best digestif I ever had! The Bitter Handshake (from Andrew Bohrer as presented in Bitters by Brad Thomas Parsons) is awesome.

1 ounce Fernet Branca, 1 ounce Blood Orange Reduction (boil freshly pressed blood orange juice until reduced to 2/3 of initial volume and let cool down), 1 ounce Rye Whiskey Syrup (bring same quantities of sugar and Rye to a simmer, then let cool)

Stir in a mixing glass filled with ice and strain into an old-fashioned glass filled with ice. Garnish with an orange zest.
