My little house, a former ancient blacksmith´s shop protected by law, just right now is in the middle of a vibrant christmas market in the middle of a German village. Beside of my front door there is a Mulled Wine booth, on the back of my house there is a Whisky Tasting booth. Life could be worse, couldn´t it?
Having tested both booths I am back in my house now remembering my week in Miami. Before I leave to Dubai tomorrow for one week I wanted to make a last Florida drink. And what do I do when I do not have many fruits in the fridge? I opt for an Hemingway drink because these drinks do not need any or only little garnish. I believe for Hemingway a cocktail garnish was absolutely unnecessary!
And here is my Cayo Hueso La Floridita found in Phil Greene´s “To Have and Have Another”.
2 oz. White Rum
1/2 oz. Lime Juice
3 oz. Grapefruit Soda (I used Mexican Style pink grapefruit soda)
Add all ingredients in a highball glass filled with ice. Stir and garnish with a lime wedge.
