Japanese Cocktail

Searching for more drinks with an “Asian touch” I stumbled over the Japanese Cocktail which is according to Brad Thomas Parsons “the only true Jerry Thomas Original.” However, there is nothing Japanese in it, the drink was created in 1860 to mark the visit of a group of Japanese delegates to the United States. I liked to do this drink because it is one of the few occasions where I can use my hugh bottle of orgeat which I bought in France last spring.

Still sipping this drink I can say it is a strong sweet cognac drink with hints of almonds, rose petals and lemon. Really delicious!!

2 ounces Cognac

1/2 ounce Orgeat

3 dashes Angostura Bitters

Garnish: Lemon Twist

Stir all ingredients with ice in a mixing glass and strain into a cocktail coupe. Garnish with the lemon twist.
